National Highways publish real time data for some 4000 VMS and more than 13000 Matrix Signals in the UK and integration of this data is a core enabler for KL Systems work around IVS in the UK.

There are various issues that complicate the interface with National Highways, the data is incremental this means that only updates are published so it easy to get out of sync, the location data is often inaccurate and there is no data on road direction. Plus the DATEX II interface used is challenging to use.

KL Systems has a permanent dedicated server to interface National Highways which supports three data pulls via a simple JSON data structure, each pull provides the current up to date status for all VMS or Lane Signals.

All VMS

All Matrix Signals

A Platform interface that combines the two to provide all equipment at a location, VMS and Gantry

KL Systems has corrected VMS Locations and added direction data for NH VMS around Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Oxford and the M25. The transformed and cleansed data is available as a subscription service
